Quilter's Destination is conveniently located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. We opened for business in September of with 1, square feet of floor space, bolts of fabric, and a prayer some may call it a business plan.
Two years later we added the great line of Janome sewing machines. In November we expanded to 4, square feet of floor space with between 4, and 5, bolts of fabric at any given time. We doubled our classroom space. We continue to listen to you, our customers, to refine our offerings of classes, fabric, and notions. We will do everything we can to give you an in-store experience that exceeds your expectations.
Read what some of our customers have to say about our shop. We want to be your quilt store and sewing center of choice. What a useful article!
I've only been to a handful of these shops, and I'm eager to explore some of the others. Love the map feature - never used the "save to" feature before! Friday, March 25, Quilt Shop Recommendations. We have created a google map of quilt shops in the Chicagoland area with the hopes of pooling the experience and opinions of Guild members on the pros and cons of quilt shops around Chicago.
This google map is entirely open for edits. We started the map with quilt shops recommended by guild members in forums from the old ning site. It would be great if you could take a look at the map and add any opinions or reviews you have about quilt shops you've visited. When you first go to the map, you'll see an option in the top left to "Save to my maps".
Last month I took my life in my hands and went to Chicago in the middle of the polar vortex sub-zero temperatures.
Our first stop was Prairie Stitches , a cute little storefront on an old-timey-looking Main Street in Oswego. I was kind overwhelmed because they had so much fabric.
Prairie Stitches had rooms and rooms of fabric and I kind of wandered around in an overwhelmed daze. Pick some fabric! Roberts Sewing Center I have no idea why they have two websites , had an even bigger selection of fabric than Prairie Stitches.
They also had a ton of different types of thread, and lots of rulers and notions. Becky talked me into the cutters below, which are spring loaded so that it takes less exertion to cut than with a classic pair of scissors.
I got sucked into the black-and-white prints section, where I basically wanted to buy everything, but limited myself to three fat quarters. They had a really amazing selection of big, bold, bright prints just what I like.
